Wainscoting is typically done in modern homes to add a touch of elegance.  It breaks up the colours in a large room, especially when working with dark paints.

Clients typically choose to apply these techniques when working with dark colours.  As an alternate, you may choose a light paint, and darker Wainscoting.  If you’d prefer, you can also have the entire wall painted with the same colour, as these are style preferences.
